Gems are items that can be inlaid to equipment, weapons or rings (Not relics) that provide various boosts to your hero depending on the gem. They can be acquired at any level, however because the Alchemy Lab is required to inlay them, gems are technically unusable until level 15.
With 4 equipment slots, 1 weapon slot, and 2 ring slots for gems, a total of 7 gems can be inlaid. Inlaying a gem to a piece of equipment does not consume any resources, whereas removing a gem costs an amount of crystal depending on the level:
Gem Removing Crystal Cost
When a gem is inlaid in a piece of equipment, every additional gem inlaid of the same type has it's effect halved (With the exception of Life Gems, which simply add their effect without restriction).
Stacked Gem Reduction Effect
Take an example of this in effect with a level 1 block gem
1st Gem – 6.0%
2nd Gem – 3.0%
3rd Gem – 1.5%
4th Gem – 0.76%
5th Gem – 0.38%
6th Gem – 0.19%
7th Gem – 0.095%
Total Block Chance 11.925%
As can be seen above, the effect of the gem is reduced to the extent that it becomes practically useless after two or three are inlaid (Especially considering that a single level 2 block gem provides 11% block chance anyway!).
Gems can be acquired through arena training, arena battles, conquest adventure, lottery spin, or the Little Empire store.
Gems have 5 levels, each level requiring four gems of the level below to fuse (4 level 1 gems = 1 level 2 gem, 4 level 2 gems = 1 level 3 gem, and so on). Fusing also costs a small amount of crystal depending on the level of gem fused.

Gem Fusing Quantities
Once a gem reaches level 4 or 5, it can be 'swapped' for another gem of equal level for a small-medium price of mojo and magic spar. This can be useful for fusing higher level gems, especially those that can't be acquired through Conquest Adventure.
Gem Swap Cost
Level 4 > Level 4
Level 4 > Level 4 (T2*)
Level 5 > Level 5
Level 5 > Level 5 (T2*)
*(T2): Poison gem and Realness gem are considered Tier 2 because they have a higher mojo cost in the store and in swap.
